SHERWOOD, Ohio — Authorities are working to identify the body of a man first responders removed from the Maumee River.
A resident discovered the body in the water about 4:10 p.m. Friday while along the bridge in Cecil, Ohio. Auglaize Township firefighters recovered the body at 5:38 p.m. near the State Rt. 127 bridge, according to the Defiance County Sheriff’s Office.
Neither Paulding nor Defiance county officials had reported missing people who match this person. Investigators believe the body may be from Allen County, Indiana, because of high water.
A full description of the man was not available. The Lucas County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy.
Those with additional information are asked to call the sheriff’s office at 419-784-1155.
