MARBLEHEAD, Ohio — A Fremont man was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead Sunday after swimming at East Harbor State Park. 

Delmur Owens, 49, was within the designated swim zone of East Harbor State Park beach when he was found unresponsive Sunday afternoon, according to a news release by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Nearby bystanders tried to resuscitate him until emergency responders arrived.

Mr. Owens was taken to Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton where he was pronounced dead. His death is still being investigated pending an autopsy by the Ottawa County Coroner’s office, the news release shows.
