PORT CLINTON — Two people were injured in a boat fire Saturday morning on Lake Erie near here.

The Coast Guard station in Marblehead, Ohio said a fire was reported on a 26-foot vessel about half a nautical mile north of the Portage River with two people on board.

Before emergency crews arrived, a “Good Samaritan” took the people on board back to shore, where they were airlifted to a nearby hospital. Their conditions are unknown.

The fire’s cause was unknown and the boat eventually burned to the waterline, the Coast Guard said.
