Driver of semi killed in Ohio turnpike crash

LINDSEY, Ohio — A  Columbiaville, Mich., man was killed when a tractor-trailer rig he was driving crashed Tuesday on the Ohio Turnpike near this Sandusky Township community, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

The 53-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene in Rice Township, according to the patrol’s Milan post. His name was being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

The semi was eastbound in the center lane about 4:35 p.m., when for unknown reasons it drove off the left side, stuck a concrete wall in the median, and overturned.

It is unknown whether drug or alcohol use contributed to the crash, according to the patrol.
