Northbound I-75 was blocked for more than four hours during and after the Friday morning rush when a truck burned near the downtown Toledo exit, and lane and ramp closings persisted until late afternoon.
The Ohio Department of Transportation announced at 3:47 p.m. that the entrance ramp from the northbound Anthony Wayne Trail had reopened following cleanup of the tractor-trailer that had caught fire and stopped near the ramp’s merge point. The fire was reported at 6:21 a.m.
The northbound left lane also remained closed for hours after the right lane’s reopening shortly before 11 a.m. The northbound lanes had been closed for more than three hours at that point, with traffic forced off onto the Trail and Erie Street and returning to northbound I-75 via Washington Street and the 14th Street entrance.
The big rig, which was hauling a trailer market for the Target department store chain, was gutted by the fire and had to be dismantled on scene. No injuries were reported.
