Authorities are investigating the discovery of a 39-year-old man's body in Navarre Park in East Toledo.

The body was found about 10:12 a.m. Monday, Toledo police said.

Officers had been dispatched to 1005 Varland Ave. to check the safety of a male covered by blankets and sleeping in the park, police said. Police found the person unresponsive. The Toledo Fire and Rescue Department pronounced the person dead at the scene.

The man’s name and the cause of death were not released as of Tuesday afternoon. The Lucas County coroner's office is assisting in the investigation.
