A fire at a junk yard on the east side of Detroit Avenue north of Sylvania Avenue closed traffic Tuesday.

Crews were called out shortly before 5 p.m. to R&M Recycling, 4200 N. Detroit Ave., where billowing smoke could be seen from a distance.

Detroit Avenue was closed north of Sylvania, as was Lagrange Street to the east of the fire scene.
