The University of Toledo’s Interprofessional Immersive Simulation Center will become the Lloyd A. Jacobs Interprofessional Immersive Simulation Center.
The university announced the medical education center’s renaming Monday afternoon. An official ceremony is set for 4 p.m. Thursday.
The simulation center, which is three stories and 65,000 square feet, was built in 2014. It houses state-of-the-art technology to aid medical students in their studies, including a virtual reality center.
Dr. Jacobs was the university’s 16th president and served in that capacity from 2006 until 2014. He oversaw the merger of the University of Toledo and the Medical College of Ohio, now the University of Toledo Medical Center.
Dr. Jacobs, a vascular surgeon, received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore.
