BOWLING GREEN — Connor Frantti and Philip Beaulieu each scored as the Northern Michigan Wildcats earned a split of their two-game, Western Collegiate Hockey Association series at Bowling Green with a 2-0 victory Saturday against the Falcons at the Slater Family Ice Arena.
The Wildcats, which lost to the Falcons 3-1 on Friday night, got their first goal of the game from Frantti at the 4:27 mark of the first period on assists by Garrett Klee and Caleb Schroer.
Northern Michigan (3-5-0, 2-2-0 WCHA) then took a two-goal advantage on Beaulieu’s power-play tally just 26 seconds into the third period on assists by Adam Rockwood and Troy Loggins.
Atte Tolvanen earned the victory by stopping 35 shots. Ryan Bednard fell to 6-1-1 on the season by 13 saves for Bowling Green (6-2-1, 1-1-0), which is No. 9 in the latest USCHO.com Division I poll.
The Falcons will travel to Alaska Anchorage for a two-game conference set starting at 11:07 p.m. Friday.
