BG's Gustafson places 7th at NCAA indoor track championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Bowling Green senior Aliyah Gustafson became the first athlete from the school in 21 years to secure a top eight finish at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, placing seventh Friday in the shot put at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Gustafson, who earned a second trip to the indoor national meet after finishing in 10th in 2018, had a top throw of 17.17 meters (56 feet, 4 inches).

Huina Han was the last Falcons athlete to finish on the podium, when she placed fourth in the triple jump in 1998. Nikki Lessig is the only other BGSU athlete to qualify for this event in consecutive seasons, when she competed in 1994-95.
