KALAMAZOO — The Bowling Green hockey team posted a 2-1 overtime victory over Western Michigan on Saturday, the second straight night the Falcons defeated the Broncos by that score.
Cameron Wright needed just 11 seconds of overtime to score the game-winning goal. His goal came unassisted.
Dawson DiPietro gave Western Michigan the game’s first goal at 1:01 of the second period. Paul Washe and Drew Worrad assisted.
Alec Rauhauser tied things at 9:59 of the second period, unassisted.
The victory gave Bowling Green (3-2-0) wins in two out of three games in the nonconference season series. Western Michigan (1-2-1) won the first meeting 5-2 on Oct. 12 in the Ice Breaker Tournament at the Huntington Center, then the Falcons won Friday’s game in Bowling Green.
Western Michigan had a 34-27 edge in shots on goal. Eric Dop recorded 36 saves for Bowling Green. Western Michigan’s Brandon Bussi had 22 saves.
Bowling Green opens WCHA play next weekend with a home series against Michigan Tech. They play Friday and Saturday, with the opening faceoff scheduled for 7:07 p.m. both nights.
