BOWLING GREEN — Grant Loy, who started seven games at quarterback for Bowling Green this season, intends to transfer for his final season of eligibility, two sources with knowledge of the situation told The Blade.
Loy, a redshirt junior, will graduate from Bowling Green this school year and can transfer penalty-free for his final season of college football. As of Monday morning, Loy was not in the transfer portal but Bowling Green has been informed of the decision, sources said.
Loy confirmed the decision later Monday, thanking Bowling Green in a Twitter post.

The former walk-on worked his way into becoming a regular for the Falcons. Loy earned a scholarship by his second year on campus and saw playing time in both 2017 and 2018 as a change-of-pace running option behind former starter Jarret Doege.
As a junior, Loy appeared in all 12 games. The Falcons started graduate transfer Darius Wade for the first five games of the year, but made a change in the first quarter of the fifth game, a nonconference date at Notre Dame.
A week later, Loy started his first game of the year against Toledo and helped the Falcons defeat their chief rival for the first time since 2009. He broke off a 56-yard run on the first play from scrimmage, threw for a touchdown and ran for another, and his 137 rushing yards in the 20-7 victory was the most for BG quarterback since 2006.
As a passer, Loy finished the year 115-for-204 (56 percent) for 1,137 yards with six touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He tied for the team lead in rushing touchdowns with four and finished third with 427 yards.
Next season, however, transfer quarterback Matt McDonald becomes eligible to play and is likely to start. McDonald previously played at Boston College, where current Falcons coach Scot Loeffler was the offensive coordinator.
Loeffler previously has said that McDonald won the starting job during training camp in the summer, but the NCAA denied his bid for a waiver that would have made him immediately eligible in 2019.
McDonald will have two years remaining starting next season, and the Falcons also plan to sign two freshmen quarterbacks in their next recruiting class in Riley Keller of Whitmer High School and Tucker Melton, a three-star recruit from Phenix City, Ala.
Should both recruits sign later this month, BG would have three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster.
