The University of Toledo announced the promotion of two members of its football staff to position coaches Monday.
Kevin Beard, previously the director of player personnel and assistant recruiting coordinator, will take over as the new receivers coach, while Nate Cole, previously the director of player development, will take over as running backs coach.
Beard will fill the void of Mike Bellamy, who left Toledo to become the running backs coach at Illinois. Cole takes over for Kerry Dixon, who is the new receivers coach at Georgia Tech.
“We are very excited to move Kevin Beard and Nate Cole into their new roles as position coaches,” Toledo coach Jason Candle said in a news release. “Both men have the experience necessary to assume the responsibilities as a position coach. Kevin has previously coached wide receivers at some very strong programs, while Nate has been an important part of our program as a player or coach for the better part of a decade. I know they will be a great addition to our program as we strive to get better every day.”
Before coming to Toledo in 2018, Beard made stops as an assistant at Miami (Fla.), Georgia, and Tennessee.
Cole played at UT from 2006-10, served as a graduate assistant from 2011-13, and has been on the staff full-time since 2016.
