The University of Toledo men's golf team wrapped up the Inverness Intercollegiate Tuesday with an eight-over par 292 as a team.
Texas Tech was 12-under par in Tuesday's final round to capture the team title while Red Raiders' Andy Lopez and Michigan State's James Piot shared medalist honors with a two-under par 211.
Toledo finished the tournament in 12th place with a 46-over par 898 in what was a very strong field. Texas Tech (four-over 856) outlasted Tennessee (12-over 864), Notre Dame (13-over 865), Michigan State (20-over 872), LSU (20-over 872), and Ohio State (24-over 876) among others.
Toledo was led by sophomore David Amm, who shot a one-under par 70 on Tuesday and finished tied for 27th at seven-over par 220. Senior Grant Godfrey finished tied for 46th with a 225, seniors Nate Thomson and Broholt Lind finished tied for 57th with a 228, and sophomore Muhammed Afif Mohd Fathi finished 83rd with a 237.
Competing as individuals for the Rockets were freshmen Logan Hooper and Jack Doody who finished 71st with a 233 and tied for 84th with a 238 respectively. Hooper shot a two-over par 73 on Tuesday.
"We had a better day of golf today, especially from David, Nate and Logan but we still need to put together 18 holes," Toledo coach Jeff Roope said. "I saw a lot of learning from our guys throughout the tournament, and we're going to continue to get better as the year progresses if we keep growing and learning."
