Central Michigan's late run takes down Toledo women

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — A fourth-quarter run carried the Central Michigan women’s basketball team to a 73-66 victory over the University of Toledo on Saturday at McGuirk Arena.

The host Chippewas (14-4, 7-0 Mid-American Conference) trailed 56-52 after three quarters of play. But Central Michigan outscored Toledo 21-10 in the final quarter, holding the Rockets to 26.7 percent (4 of 15) from the field in the game’s final 10 minutes.

Toledo (9-8, 4-2) attempted just one free throw in the final quarter and hit just 7 of 12 (58.3 percent) from the line for the game.

The Rockets also committed 18 turnovers to Central Michigan’s 12.

Turnovers cost Toledo in home loss to Eastern Michigan

Nakiah Black led Toledo with 19 points, adding six rebounds and four assists. Quinesha Lockett scored 15 points.

Molly Davis had 28 points for Central Michigan. Micaela Kelly had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Kyra Bussell had 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Rockets are home Wednesday for a 7 p.m. contest against Eastern Michigan.
