University of Toledo sophomore center Luke Knapke documents the men’s basketball team’s trip through Italy for The Blade.
Tonight was a very cool experience with the final game of our trip played at the U.S. Army base in Vicenza. It was great to see the military come out and support their homeland, and I thought we put on a really good show for them. I’ve been to several military bases before in the United States because my uncle serves in the military. It was very similar to what I’ve seen before, but I think a lot of guys were surprised by how big the base was.
We played really well tonight and it was good to see us put it all together. These four games have given us a great head start on our upcoming season, because now we know the things we do well and also the things we need to work on.
Tomorrow we’re heading to the Dolomite Mountains, which make up part of the southern Alps. We’re taking a zipline ride down the mountains and that’s going to be a memory that will last a lifetime. I can’t wait to see the view, but I’m kind of nervous because I’m not a big fan of heights. It should be an exciting day!
