Robert Miller, a long-time assistant Lucas County prosecutor, submitted his letter of resignation Wednesday.
Mr. Miller, 49, was placed on administrative leave July 25 by Lucas County Prosecutor Julia Bates.
“It has been a privilege to work for you and the citizens of Lucas County,” Mr. Miller said in his resignation letter, obtained by The Blade on Friday.
His annual salary for 2017 was $129,351.
Mrs. Bates said she placed Mr. Miller on leave July 25. She received the letter Thursday morning, and did not offer any explanation for why he resigned.
“He’s going to go his way and we’re going to go our way,” Mrs. Bates said.
Mr. Miller was hired as an assistant prosecutor in August, 1999 then left in June, 2002 to take a job as an assistant statewide prosecutor in the Attorney General's Office in Orlando, Fla.
In December, 2005, he was rehired in Lucas County as an assistant prosecutor. He was promoted to chief of the special units division in December, 2012.
