Coach: Scott Staten, third year
Last season: 7-4, 6-1 TAAC
Returning letter winners: 10
Returning starters: Offense 6, defense 7
Schemes: Multiple formations/5-2
Top players: Seniors Matt Cook, 6-2, 240, OL-DL; Reid Bowling, 5-8, 155, RB-LB. Juniors Connor Hug, 6-0, 180, WR-DB; Brock Thiel, 5-9, 185, WR-DB; Trevor Green, 5-6, 160, RB-DB.
Outlook: First and foremost, the Bombers must fill the void left by the graduation of star back Shannon Geren, a Division VI All-Ohio third-team pick who rushed for more than 2,000 yards and scored more than 200 points last season. Bowling rushed for 600 yards, and Thiel (562 yards, 6 TDs) and Hug (454 yards, 10 TDs) were among the TAAC's top receivers. Cook had 15 tackles for loss.
Edon will be counting much more heavily on its passing attack this year, and Staten's top concerns are a lack of size, and inexperience, particularly on both lines.
"We will continue to focus on trying to play fundamentally sound football," Staten said. "This season will be determined by how quickly the young players are able to step up in varsity roles."
