Coach: Pat Gucciardo, first year
Last season: 2-8, 0-7 NLL
Returning letter winners: 8
Returning starters: Offense 4, defense 3
Schemes: Fun-n-Gun/Multiple 4-3
Top players: Seniors James Bruce 5-9, 240, G; Ben Steadman, 6-3, 210, TE/DE; Clay Fink, 6-0, 175, QB; Ty Shy, 6-2, 170, WR/DB; Michah Sanders, 5-10, 236, OT; Ryan Stickley, 6-1, 185 LB; Ian Martin, 5-8, 250, OG. Junior Elijah Todd, 5-9, 179, RB; Ross Lonsway, 5-10, 184, LB; Navada Parker, 5-9, 145, WR; Tyson Proctor, 6-0, 150, WR/DB.
Outlook: Gucciardo takes over at Springfield after stints at Whitmer and Start.
He said he inherits a team with good strength and speed. Among 61 players, 18 are seniors.
Fink carried 67 times for 375 yards last season (5.6 average), and completed 50 of 92 passes for 648 yards and four touchdowns.
But a lack of depth and experience could be trouble areas.
"The team has worked very hard in the offseason," Gucciardo said. "Teamwork and chemistry are major components to a successful season."
