Sometimes, you just need a doughnut. So why not head to a place that specializes them? Today’s Cheap Eats feature: Cafe Donuts.
This cozy, family-owned spot not only has dozens of doughnuts, but almost as many different varieties. There is something for everyone, from simple sour cream rings and seasonal pumpkin spice-flavored ones to frosted jelly doughnuts and others filled with chocolate creme and coated with powdered sugar. And at 95 cents apiece, you don’t even have to spend one-fifth of our maximum $5 per person budget for your favorite one.
Mmm, doughnuts. At Cafe Donuts, there are lots to choose from.
A great deal for someone with a particularly strong sweet tooth (who should also have a gym membership to burn off the calories) is a special offering of a medium coffee with two doughnuts for $2.99. Bump up the nutrition a bit and get that coffee with two muffins, instead, for $4.49.
Other breakfast or snack offerings include a bagel with plain cream cheese for $2.59; with a flavored schmear, it costs $2.84. For $3.99, you can choose from three other options: a medium coffee with a bagel and cream cheese, that same-sized coffee with an egg and cheese sandwich and any doughnut, or a croissant with coffee and juice.
Egg sandwiches on their own cost $1.99 for a simple one with cheese or $2.99 if you add bacon, ham, or sausage to the basic variety.
For a brighter morning or an afternoon pick-me-up, Cafe Donuts offers frugal finds that make the day better.
