Obituaries
Daniel C. "Tybo" Tyburski
February 22, 1958 - November 11, 2024
Daniel C. Tyburski, age 66, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away November 11, 2024, at St. Anne Mercy Hospital, Toledo, Ohio. Daniel was born February 22, 1958, in Toledo, to David and Joyce (Pennock) Tyburski. A 1976 Woodward High School graduate, he played baseball and basketball, was an All City and All District basketball player, and will be inducted into the Woodward Hall of Fame in March of 2025. Dan married his high school sweetheart, Joan Pomorski, October 22, 1983, in St. Adalbert Church. They were blessed with sons, Danny and Jeff, their pride and joy, who brought them happiness, laughter, and two beautiful families. Dan was a devout Catholic his whole life. He was a member of St. Adalbert's for 30 years, and St. Catherine for 36 years, where he coached basketball, and was on the church advisory committee. Best of all, he was able to watch his boys play many sports, from grade school until they finished high school at St. Francis de Sales. Dan says the best part of his family was getting to joke around with his beloved grandchildren while watching them grow up, and mentor them when they were playing the many different sports they love. He will forever be their biggest cheerleader in whatever they do.
Dan started his career working at Libbey-Owens-Ford, LOF, where he worked until 1983, when he began working at the Toledo Jeep plant. A 37-year Jeep retiree, he worked in production for 11 years, and as a videographer for 26 years. He documented, via video and still pictures, the demolition of the entire Jeep Pkwy facility, and the construction of Toledo Assembly Complex and supplier park, including the resumption of Jeep production at the new plant. Dan was a member of the UAW staff for many years, working for 7 UAW chairmen and 7 plant managers. Dan was instrumental in starting and chairing the Jeep Employee Legends Run, a charity motorcycle event, for 17 years. This event consisted of all-Jeep employees who rode Harley Davidson motorcycles, two American icons.
Always active in his community, he was on the Advisory Committee of the Northwest Ohio Polish Cultural Center, formerly a board member of Jeep Country Federal Credit Union, a member of the UAW Local 12, where he is on the retiree committee, and, he is a past President and Board member of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America (PRCUA).
Surviving are his loving wife of 41 years, Joan; his sons, Danny (Beth) Tyburski and Jeff (Erica) Tyburski; brothers, David and Joseph Tyburski; sister, Julie Cooper; and sisters-in-law, Sandy Tyburski and Mary Euler. Also surviving are his beloved 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Hillary, Mallory, Annie, and Ava Tyburski. Preceding him in death were his parents, and his brother, John.
Daniel's Life Celebration will be Friday, November 15, 2024, from 2 until 8 p.m., at Urbanski Funeral Home, a Life Celebration Home, 5055 Secor Rd., Toledo, Ohio. Visitation will continue Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4555 N. Haven Ave., Toledo, Ohio, where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., in the church. Interment will be held privately in Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio. Memorial contributions are encouraged to Mission MSA (Multiple System Atrophy), Masses at St. Catherine Church, or the Northwest Ohio Polish Cultural Center. His family wants to thank Dr. Salem, Dr. Liao, and Dr. Santacroce for the great compassion and care they gave Dan.

Dominic Raths -
Obituaries
Dominic Raths
Dominic James Raths, of Toledo, Ohio, born October 26, 1993, in Chesapeake, VA, passed away suddenly, on November 6, 2024.
Surviving are his parents, Lisa Smith, and James (Kathryn) Raths; siblings, Matthew Johnson, Alexandria Raths, Joshua (Ellen) Williams, and Jeremy Williams; grandparents, Mary and David Custard, and Patricia LaBean; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by grandparents, Henry Smith, Rosemary Moore, Frederick Raths, and Buck LaBean.
Dominic was a 2012 graduate of Toledo Public Schools Phoenix On-line Academy, and attended Owens Community College.
All of his life, Dominic has put the needs of others before his own. His very caring "old soul" launched him into his first career, caring for others. He obtained his STNA license, and worked in this field for 3 years. His love of reading and all things literature led him to his next role at Discover Books. Just before his passing, he worked briefly for Zepf Center, and had just completed the State Certification to become a Peer Support Specialist, to assist those navigating the mental health system.
Dominic was known for his eclectic style and unique creations. He crafted a publication called Maladjusted, known as a "Zine", a small collaboration of art, poetry, and short stories he assembled with other artists, and independently circulated them to coffee houses and small, independent, shops throughout the Toledo Area.
Some of his favorite pastimes included nature walks at Wildwood, where any dog he encountered would get the "Can I pet your dog?!" request. He loved all animals, especially dogs, and they loved him. His passion for unique genres of music and film was something he shared with his lifelong friends. Dominic also developed a love for boxing; he joined International Boxing Club in Toledo, and attended regularly, because of the positive effects he saw that it had on his physical and mental well-being. He tirelessly sought out healthy ways to manage his mental health.
His favorite travel destination was Sleeping Bear Dunes, on Lake Michigan, and any other destination that could provide him with peace and tranquility. His sensitive nature, thoughtfulness, and extremely caring personality will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Gathering where friends and family are welcome to come and share happy memories of Dominic's life together will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at The Ward Pavilion, located at Wildwood Metropark, 5100 W. Central Ave., Toledo, Ohio, from 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. Reeb Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.

Howard James Syroka -
Obituaries
Howard James Syroka
November 05, 1952 - October 23, 2024
Howard James Syroka, a true Toledo native and lifelong teamate, has hung up his cleats for the last time. On October 23, 2024, Howard rounded third, and slid home. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on November 5, 1952, to Howard and Audrey (Jackowski), Howard was always a competitor, on and off the field. He spent most of his high school years at Woodward High School, but is a proud Start High School graduate, Class of 1970. Howard spent much of his life working for Food Town, where he was a dedicated and hardworking player on the team.
When Howard wasn't hard at work, he was swinging for the fences in every game he played. From his time on the softball diamond to golf greens, and from the little ball tables to dartboards, he made every point, every hit, and every win count. He was the one you wanted on your team, and the one you hated to play against. A lifelong fan of Ohio State Buckeyes and Detroit Lions, he kept his home field full of sports energy, always ready to offer the latest score, his expert opinion, or some unsolicited advice for his six beloved grandchildren. Howard loved spending time with his grandchildren, and was sure to attend every sporting event he possibly could.
Howard leaves behind his most cherished teammates, his wife, Sharon, of more than 50 years; and his children, Justin (Kelly), Amanda (Damian), and Jacob (Breanna). His roster of grandchildren, Keegan, Lexie, Brianna, Gabriella, Nathaniel, and Madison each hold a special place in the dugout of his heart. He will be remembered by his many loving siblings, Mike (Marcia), Dave (Bonnie), Rick (Wendy), Bob (Debbie), Sister Shelley, Tommy (Jacquline), Paul (Jennifer), Bill (Amy), and Tim (Jenn) who are proud to carry his legacy forward.
As Howard takes his well-earned place on the ultimate field, his spirit remains in the stories, games, and endless advice he shared. The world has lost a fierce competitor, but heaven's team just gained an MVP.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 12-4 p.m., at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH, where a Memorial Service will begin at 4 p.m. In tribute to Howard, please wear attire representing Ohio State (scarlet and grey), or the Detroit Lions (blue, white, silver, and black). Burial will be private. Celebration of life party will be announced at later day by the Syroka family.

Kathryn L. "Renee" Bailey
Kathryn L. Bailey, affectionately known as Renee, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully, in her sleep, on November 11, 2024, at the age of 90. She was born on February 16, 1934, to Frances and George Stevens, in Toledo, Ohio. After graduating from Woodward High School, Renee met and married the love of her life, Charles Bailey. After her retirement, Renee continued helping others by volunteering at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon.
Renee was devoted to her church. She loved working in the kitchen at the Greek American Festival with her mother and sisters. Renee belonged to the Ladies Philoptochos Society, and enjoyed traveling with the Young at Heart members. She found pleasure in growing vegetables in her garden, canning, bird watching, and listening to country music. She also enjoyed knitting beautiful afghans for the family, which are treasured. Renee took many trips to Tennessee to visit family and friends. The Great Smoky Mountains were one of her favorite places.
Renee was always there when you needed her to lend a helping hand, share her wisdom, and make you smile. She had such wonderful stories and memories of growing up with her brothers and sisters in the old North End of Toledo. She faithfully served God, her family, and all who knew her. Renee will be remembered for her sharp wit, beautiful smile, great sense of humor, and feisty spirit. She was a wonderful wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Renee is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charlie; parents, brothers, and sisters; and a myriad of family and friends, who welcomed her home. She is survived by many generations of nieces and nephews. May her memory be eternal.
