ROCKY RIDGE, Ohio — A Woodville, Ohio man died and a woman was injured early today after their vehicle drove off Rocky Ridge Road and went into a quarry, the Ottawa County Sheriff's office said.
Jason Clere, 32, who is believed to have been driving the car, was pronounced dead at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton. Amy Tingley, 33, Rocky Ridge, was in the submerged vehicle but was able to swim to shore. She was treated for injuries at Magruder.
The woman was found along the road near the quarry by deputies who received the report on the accident near Second Street about 12:45 a.m.
The sheriff department’s underwater response team went into the quarry and pulled the victim from the vehicle.
An autopsy on Mr. Clere will be performed by the Lucas County Coroner’s office.
