TIFFIN — A Tiffin man faces numerous charges including child endangerment and operating a vehicle under the influence after police said he was involved in an incident in which a child drove a car.
Eight charges against Cory Mathias, 27, of Tiffin were filed today in Tiffin Municipal Court, stemming from an alleged incident Saturday involving a child who drove a car to a gas station, according to a Tiffin police report.
Tiffin police responded after receiving a call that an 8-year-old child was driving a red Ford car when it pulled into the parking lot, the report stated. A man was in the passenger seat.
Police put Mr. Mathias into custody following the incident, the report stated.
He faces misdemeanor counts of child endangerment, obstruction, and operating a vehicle under the influence, among other charges listed in municipal court.
He pleaded not guilty today in a court appearance via video. His total bond was set at $68,000 cash or surety, and his trial is scheduled for Dec. 7.
