Toledo police investigating East Toledo gun incidents

Toledo police are investigating three gun incidents Monday in East Toledo. 

Police responded to a “shots fired” call shortly before 7 a.m. in the 700 block of Fourth Street. 

Juan Delgado was getting out of his car when two people ran toward him, and a struggle ensued between the group, according to police.

Police note Mr. Delgado grappled with one of the attackers, who had a gun. The weapon fired and one of the rounds struck the home of Shelia Wisniewski, police said. 

The two attackers then fled on foot. 

Another home in the 2100 block of Caledonia Street was also shot. 

At about 8:25 a.m., Jade Juhasz was getting into his vehicle when someone pointed a gun at him, demanding money, police said.

Mr. Juhasz’s wallet and cell phone were taken before the person fled on foot. 

In the third incident, a central city man was taken to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center after he was shot while fleeing from robbers, according to Toledo police.

Jeffery Jones of the 900 block of Woodland Avenue was struck in the right hamstring, according to police. 

He told police he was in a parking lot shortly after 7 p.m. Monday in the 80 block of Birmingham Terrace in East Toledo  when he was approached by three men who demanded Mr. Jones give them whatever he had. 

Mr. Jones then fled and was shot by one of the three men, police said. 

Police are investigating whether the incidents are connected.
