The downtown Renaissance Hotel, under renovation for nearly two years, is set to open Wednesday.
The 13-story hotel at 444 N. Summit St. has had several proposed opening dates over the past six months, each pushed back by additional renovations. Owned by Chicago-based First Hospitality Group, the hotel is taking bookings for its 240 rooms.
About $25 million was spent to replace heating and cooling systems, redo all rooms, renovate the lobby, install a first- floor restaurant and a rooftop restaurant and bar, and make other renovations. The hotel last operated as a Grand Plaza, shutting down in late 2015.
