The Ruby Tuesday restaurant chain has closed its only Toledo-area restaurant as part of a corporate downsizing to cut poor-performing stores.
The Toledo restaurant, at 2915 Glendale Ave., closed more than a week ago, just after Maryville, Tenn.-based Ruby Tuesday Inc . said in its quarterly financial report that it planned to close about 95 restaurants by September.
The chain had operated two area restaurants — one at Franklin Park Mall that closed in 2009, and the Glendale site, which opened in 2003. The closest location is in Monroe.
The Glendale location, which was corporate owned, was the only one in Ohio on the company’s list of stores to close. Ruby Tuesday also owns the 5,600-square-foot building and 1.6 acres on which it sits, county records show.
