The University of Toledo men's basketball team has received a commitment from Waverly (Mich.) High School swingman Justin Ingram.
The 6-3 guard/forward chose Toledo over Western Michigan, Wright State, Illinois-Chicago and Weber State, according to the Lansing State Journal. He would begin his play at Toledo in the 2003-04 season.
He averaged 18.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and two steals last year as a junior, and was named all-state honorable mention.
UT coach Stan Joplin is not allowed to comment on a recruit until he has a signed letter of intent. Ingram is expected to do that during the early signing period from Nov.13-20, as is 6-0 point guard Rashay Russell from St. Rita High School in Chicago. Russell, who committed to Joplin last year before the start of his junior season, is rated one of the top 25 players in Illinois.
HOUSE WILT BUILT: The Hershey, Pa., arena where Wilt Chamberlain had his NBA record 100-point game is being replaced by a new $75 million, 10,500-seat facility.
The Center replaces Hersheypark Arena, where Chamberlain's Philadelphia Warriors beat the New York Knicks 169-147 in 1962.
