The Toledo Museum of Art’s annual summer block party has been canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The outdoor party that spills out of TMA, and along the main Monroe Street thoroughfare and museum campus, was planned for July 18. Because of its potential to draw thousands of people, the museum felt it best to cancel, said Adam Levine, TMA’s Edward Drummond and Florence Scott Libbey director.
“Our priority continues to be the safety and well-being of museum staff, volunteers and visitors, and we will work diligently to bring this beloved event back to our community bigger and better than ever next year,” he said in a news release.
The annual event includes food, art, and live entertainment to party-goers. Its cancellation follows that of other large art events, including the Black Swamp Arts Festival, and the University of Toledo’s Art on the Mall.
