SPRING has sprung with oodles of events. Here are just a few that are upcoming:
IT'S not too late to view the Through Our Eyes: A Low Vision Perspective Art exhibit which runs through March 14 at the Main Library.
Presented by the Sight Center of Northwest Ohio and the Toledo Lucas County Public Library, it was kicked off in February, recognizing Low Vision Awareness Month.
It's a chance to educate the public about low vision and adaptive painting techniques.
Participating artists include: Dave Wisniewski, Michael Sager, Deonte Munn, Kathy Villa Hanneman, Rick Fravor, and Jeannine Dailey.
YOU can shop ’til you drop on March 22 at the Cheap and Chic shoppers event held at the Lamson’s building at 600 Jefferson Ave. in Toledo. Shopping hours are 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Admittance is $5 and proceeds benefit the Victory Center.
Local boutiques selling their wares for cheap money, include Ragazza, Sophia Lustig, Vivian Kate, The Little Being, Meig, Hip to the Groove, Madison Paul, I.M. Jaffe Jeweler, and Pura Cashmere will be on hand selling their beautiful chic designs for “cheap money” all in support of the Victory Center.
“The local retail community has a long history of supporting local non-profit organizations in Toledo,” Meredith Moore from Sophia Lustig said. “We believe by collaborating with non-profit organizations, we can begin a long-term partnership raising money for a much-needed cause."
This event began after the economic downturn in 2009, according to Jane Wurth of Ragazza. Many of the local stores had purchased too much inventory and an idea was formed to develop a Cheap and Chic event to raise money for local charities while getting rid of surplus inventory.
THE 14th annual Business and Health Expo is slated for April 5 from 10 a.m. -3 p.m. at the new Wayman D. Palmer YMCA at 2053 N. 14th St. in Toledo. There will be the UTMC Health Mobile Care Unit, health screenings, small businesses, community resources, and more.
