Tiffany Lewis says you get “more mileage” by living a fulfilled life, as opposed to a happy life.
Her mission is to help people do just that.
People often go about life doing the things they’re told they should do to be happy, the South Toledoan explained.
“That’s what everybody wants to be at the end of the day: is to be happy,” she said. “The truth is, our goal is to not be happy. Our goal is to be fulfilled.”
Lewis is a certified professional career coach and resume writer — but she refers to herself as a clarity coach.
“I absolutely love helping people to clarify their gift so they can discover their genius,” she said.
She offers consultation sessions for individuals and leadership trainings for companies. In October, Lewis, 53, released a workbook called Unearth Your Gift: How to Discover Your Genius and an accompanying journal, Unpack Your Genius Journal: Insights from God.

It’s meant to help people better understand themselves and their purpose in life, the author said. It’s a small read that breaks the process down into steps to identify, understand, explore, and practice their gift.
“I tell people all the time, ‘You have been given a gift, and there’s nothing worse than to be given this precious gift, and you have never discovered how to use it,’” Lewis said. “So my goal is to help you unlock what you’ve been walking around with.”
Cheryl Sherman has done a one-on-one coaching session with Lewis, during which the coach identified Sherman’s characteristics and why she holds them.
“She brought out things in myself that I had not thought about,” Sherman said.
The student noted that she left the session feeling more positive.
“I felt encouraged by how she pulled out things that were hidden in me,” she said.
While the new book has Christian themes, Lewis said it’s accessible to all people.
“The person that can really give that answer and help you identify you is the person that made you; and that’s the Lord Jesus Christ,” Lewis said. “The book speaks to why it’s essential to move in this direction of finding out from the author what you’re to do.”
Lewis will share her book during a release party this weekend at the church her parents are pastors at. During the event, she will talk about her coaching and walk people through the process of finding clarity. She is happy to then continue meeting with individuals as they begin the process of finding their gift.
Lewis is a certified Maxwell Leadership coach and holds a master’s degree from University of Toledo. She published in 2012 a book called Need a Job? Then, Do SUMthing!
She also works with the local arm of the National African American Fellowship’s First Ladies Network, which empowers the wives of local pastors.

Sherman said she will read Lewis’ new book in hopes that she can be more inspired for herself, and then be able to go and help others tap into their own gifts.
“[Lewis] is very inspirational, and that means a lot because you have to be able to inspire people to want to do better,” Sherman said. “She’s great in what she does. We can’t help people until we develop ourselves.”
