Cookies Tonight: Crispy Praline Cookies

Crispy Praline Cookies

“This cookie rendition of the classic Southern praline swaps chocolate for the nuts,” write the editors of Southern Living magazine, “and the result is a magical mouthful.”

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

1 large egg

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup semisweet chocolate morsels

Preheat oven to 350F

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, stirring until blended.

Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake in batches for 13 to 15 minutes. Cool on baking sheets 1 minute, then transfer to wire rack and cool completely.

Yield: About 2 dozen cookies
