Toledo GROWs, which has supported community agriculture — such as urban gardens and those based at schools and faith-based organizations — since 1995, will be celebrating the end of the growing season at its eighth annual Harvest Market Dinner. This very special event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Toledo Farmers’ Market, 525 Market St.
Local foods will be featured in dishes prepared by chefs from The Beirut, Black Kite Coffee and Pies, Cocina de Carlos, Fowl and Fodder, Georgette’s Grounds and Gifts, Holey Toledough Handcrafted Doughnuts, Jera’s Heavenly Sweet, Maumee Bay Lodge and Conference Center, the Original Sub Shop, Penta Career Center Culinary Arts, Porkbelly BBQ, the Sophia Quintero Art and Cultural Center, Souk Mediterranean Kitchen and Bar, Stella’s, Toledo Country Club, and the Toledo Museum of Art. Guests also will enjoy tastings of locally-produced beers, wines, and spirits.

• Great Grape Stomp
From noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 29, join in a one-of-a-kind fund-raiser to benefit the United Way of Ottawa County: the Great Grape Stomp, at which four-person teams will compete to see who can produce juice the fastest with their feet and win a coveted trophy. (Don’t worry — you don’t need to drink the juice! And your feet won’t get stained.)
This event is being hosted at Mon Ami Restaurant and Historic Winery, 3845 East Wine Cellar Road, Port Clinton. So gather up a team, choose a fun name, and maybe dress with a theme. The registration fee for a team is $200.
Attendees also can bid on silent and live auction items, as well as win cash and prizes at other activities.
Proceeds will benefit programs in Ottawa County: CASA, Champions for Children, Community Support Services, Countdown to Kindergarten, Joyful Connections, Kindergarten Launch Pad, Ruth Ann’s House, Summer Lunch and Fun, TNT Mentoring, and United Way 2-1-1.
