The coronavirus pandemic continues, but so do fund-raising efforts, thanks to generous community supporters.
THE St. Jude Dream Home is finished and will be open for tours in August, specifics yet to be determined because of coronavirus.
The home is in the Quarry Ridge subdivision at 8734 Howe Ln. in Sylvania Township. A virtual tour is also being planned.
The 12,500 tickets at $100 each were sold out within the first two weeks after they went on sale May 14.
More than $1,250,000 has been raised, according to Mike White, owner of Buckeye Real Estate Group, who built the home and donated time and materials. Also, ticket-holders’ tickets will be entered into the MARKET Dream Home Shopping Spree with prizes including a 2020 Honda Fit LX, courtesy of Jim White Honda.
The proceeds go to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, founded by Toledo-born and raised Danny Thomas, a comedian, singer, actor, producer, and philanthropist whose career spanned five decades. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food — so the family can focus on helping their child live.
The home giveaway to the lucky ticket-holder is Aug. 13. Tune in to WTOL/WUPW at 5 p.m.
The nearly $400,000-valued house has a nearly 2,800-square-foot floor plan created by Lori LaPoint at LaPoint Design which features four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a first floor laundry, a two-story great room and entry, a sun room, a spacious kitchen, wet bar, garage storage space, and more.
But there's more to seeing the house than just the free tour. There is an open house prize: A $10,000 furniture shopping spree at La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries. Register for free at the open house for a chance to win.
