Monday Memories: A dive into Toledo's Highland Park

We revisit July 20, 1971, at the Highland Park Pool to see scores of children splashing and waiting in line for the high-dive.

The pool was built in 1969, but the by the mid-2000s it had fallen prey to budget shortfalls, mismanagement, as well as community neglect, vandalism, and thievery.

The city still has seven active recreational water facilities in the form of six pools and one splash pad. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, all the facilities remain closed for the 2020 season.
