WGTE welcomes new on-air classical music host

Mary Claire Murphy, a Bowling Green State University graduate who has taught music at area schools, is the new on-air classical music host and content producer at WGTE Public Media.

“Morning Classics,” airing 9 to 11 a.m. weekdays, is on FM 91. Her first show was Tuesday.

Murphy instructed at Toledo’s St. Ursula Academy and St. Augustine Catholic School in Napoleon, and has owned and operated a music studio, Field Lily Music. She is a professional pianist, and received degrees in piano and composition from Xavier University and Bowling Green.

“We're thrilled to have Mary Claire join our radio team,” WGTE radio station manager Brad Cresswell said in a release. “She brings the right combination of skill and personality to the classical music host chair, and her strong experience as a teacher has honed her ability to connect with classical listeners.”
