Sashem Brey will be moving from the morning to the evening newscast at 13abc in the new year, the anchor confirmed Monday.
Brey, who recently celebrated 20 years at 13abc in September, said in a video posted to Facebook that she is in her last week as host of 13abc’s morning show, and will be transitioning to an anchor role on the station’s 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts with Lee Conklin and Jay Berschback.
“It has been my absolute pleasure to be with you and help you wake up dark and early for the last 20 years,” she said in the message.
“This is not just a job, it is my pride and joy,” the anchor continued, shouting out meteorologist Ross Ellet and the friends she has made on the station’s morning crew.
The move comes as the station looks to move on after longtime evening news anchor Diane Larson retired in November.
