Make the right connection at Blade Job & Education Fair

If you are looking for your first job, a step up the income ladder, or a change in careers, the 2023 Blade Job & Education Fair could be your solution.

Streamline your efforts and make connections by attending this single-day event on May 4 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Perrysburg. More than 40 employers will be on hand, with job openings in a wide variety of fields, including finance, sales, healthcare, human resources, transportation, warehousing, food services, and childcare.

"It is always nice to be part of an event that helps job seekers find the career they have been looking for or maybe even their first job,” said Connie Cross, Blade classified and retail manager. “One thing that has been consistent over time is The Blade’s ability to bring companies and job seekers together – in person, online, or in print.”

Those planning to attend the Job Fair are urged to bring copies of their resume and to be prepared to meet with recruiters. Experts will be available to offer resume tips and additional suggestions for your next in-person interview.

Not only will there be many positions to research and apply for, but there will also be full and part-time positions, positions with flexible hours, and the potential for working remotely or a hybrid of office and remote work.

Rachel Wixey & Associates will be among the businesses at the Blade Job & Education Fair. The firm is devoted strictly to schools and educational service centers with expertise in substitute management services.

“Our team is so excited about the job fair,” said Krishna McCollins, Vice President of Development for Rachel Wixey & Associates. “We are looking for the right candidates to step in to save the day when school employees can’t be there. The job fair allows candidates to gain valuable knowledge about K-thru-12 school positions we have available.

“Our firm attends job fairs regularly and many times at colleges across the state. We love that it’s here, and local this time for us.”

Rachel Wixey & Associates is looking for employees who may wish to set their own schedule, but also those who enjoy a set schedule. It has many substitute positions available for schools — certified (teachers) and classified (paraprofessionals, food service, cleaners, seasonal workers, secretaries, and monitors).

“Our positions are the most flexible jobs in existence with competitive compensation and health benefits offered,” McCollins said.

The job fair helps us to get the chance to have face-to-face interaction with our candidates and also gets our name out in the community.

Guardian Alarm will also be talking with prospective employees at the Job Fair.

“We have had success at the job fairs and at the last job fair we saw many candidates and hired one,” Lori Kent, Director of Inside Sales at Guardian Alarm, a security company in business since 1930.

“Guardian is one of the top places to work in Toledo,” King said, adding that the company offers vacation and sick time, health insurance, dental and vision insurance, and a 401K plan.

“We are looking for sales candidates, service technicians, and alarm installers,” King said. “Come to the job fair with an open mind and be ready to have an interview on the spot.”

Those who attend can win tickets to events at the Valentine Theatre, Walleye hockey games, or University of Toledo football games.
