Epworth United Methodist Church, well known for its history and prominence in our state as one of our largest and most active churches, continues to lead the way for people of faith across our region. Led by Dr. Stephen Lowell Swisher and a team of exceptional professional staff, the ministry teams of Epworth reach out daily to thousands with help for today, hope for tomorrow, and a place to call home.
Each weekend Epworth UMC offers four opportunities for worship for all ages Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. and Sundays at 8:30, 9:45, and 11 a.m. They also have an active media ministry that broadcasts services at Epworth.com/sermons and on WTOL (Channel 11) and answers questions about God and faith in a popular Blade column every Sunday. Each week they also provide Wednesday Oasis at 6:30 p.m., which offers rich and diversified discipleship and spiritual growth opportunities for youth and adults. Over 100 small groups are also offered. These groups disperse throughout northwest Ohio to offer prayer and encouragement seven days a week.
Many other special events are offered, including Friday Night Flix, a drive-in movie experience on Fridays at Epworth. Trunk or Treat will be October 25 from 5-7 p.m., where over 3,000 friends are expected to dress up, drive through, and enjoy FREE candy packaged safely and distributed by volunteers and staff with masks and gloves (for safety, not theatrical purposes this year). On November 7, the annual Arts and Crafts Bazaar will be held at Epworth, featuring hundreds of vendors with specialty items just perfect for the fall.
In addition to these many events, Epworth is heavily involved in mission work throughout Lucas County, offering food and clothing for those in need and assistance for those in transition. A very active furniture ministry serves thousands of people a year, and outreach teams travel across the country and around the world on a regular basis.
The newly enlarged Epworth UMC campus offers ministry to children, youth, adults, and seniors in a cutting-edge 21st-century facility. The Memorial Gardens also offers a place of peace and solace in the midst of a busy, hectic world. At Epworth United Methodist Church, there is something for every age and every stage in life. You are always invited to plug into everything Epworth has to offer in-person and online. Epworth UMC also offers regular clinic opportunities throughout the week for flu shots for the community and blood drive opportunities.
