La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries of Toledo was started in 1974 by Don Durocher and continues to be a leader in home furnishings for northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.

But La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries, a licensee of the national company headquartered in Monroe, Michigan, is much more than a furniture store for every room in your house. Supporting local charities is one of many ways La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries gives back to the community.

It is heavily involved in supporting the local Ronald McDonald House, the St. Jude Hospital Dream House Giveaway, and the Toledo SeaGate Food Bank.

“We stage the home for the St. Jude Hospital Dream House and proud to have helped raise millions of dollars for research at St. Jude Hospital,” said Matt Simpson, sales and marketing director for La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries. “We are very excited to be involved again this year.”

La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries also participated in Nationwide Marketing’s No Child Hungry campaign to end child hunger around the corner and around the world. Since then, the Nationwide community has collectively packed more than 685,000 meals at various events around the country, delivering a portion of those packed meals within the local host cities and the rest to children and their families in Haiti and the Bahamas.

“Giving back is all part of being a good steward to the communities where we work and live. Helping the people in our neighborhoods that we serve is the right thing to do. If you can give … give,” said Chris Durocher, La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries President & CEO.

The selection at the La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries has gone so far beyond recliners — something for the living room, dining room, family room, bedroom, and every place in the home. But the family-oriented business is especially proud of its employees who volunteer for many of the charity events.

“Being locally owned and operated, your neighbors are working at our stores,” Simpson said. “We’re very proud of the fact that we have so many longtime employees.”
