OTT: Local Daughters of Isis celebrate year's worth of good works

THE 47TH Annual Commandress Ball for Mecca Court No. 73 Daughters of Isis was last month at the Park Inn Hotel. Honored was this year's Illustrious Commandress Debbie Dean-Mitchell.

Also recognized was this year's scholarship recipient, Dominique Menefee, a 2010 graduate of Rogers High School, who is pursuing her bachelor of science degree in nursing at the University of Toledo.

The Daughters of Isis is an auxiliary of the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine of North and South America and Its Jurisdictions Incorporated, Prince Hall Affiliation. The organization's purposes are charity, benevolence, and promotion of general welfare. This year Mecca Court No. 73 made donations to local organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House, Mott Branch Library, YWCA, Naomi House, and Holly Glen Nursing Home, said Lanaya McDonald, publicity chairman.
