Franklin Park Mall to reduce its hours indefinitely

Toledo’s Franklin Park Mall said Tuesday that it is reducing its hours indefinitely, beginning immediately, to conform with health authorities’ recommendations that mass gatherings be limited.

Also, Macy’s announced that it will close its store indefinitely at the end of the day Tuesday in response to the coronavirus threat.

The mall’s new hours are noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

In addition to the decision by Macy’s, several other stores have either closed temporarily or reduced their hours.

J.C. Penney has reduced its hours to match the mall hours. Retailers that include the Apple store, Bath & Body Works, Pink, Victoria’s Secret, Hot Topic, and Box Lunch all have closed indefinitely, mall officials said.

Restaurants Black Rock, Don Juan, and BJ’s Brewhouse have closed public seating but have begun offering carryout orders. Mall officials said several restaurants in the food court are providing carry out.

The closing of Macy’s includes its Macy’s Backstage store located inside the Macy’s store.

“The health and safety of our customers, colleagues and communities is our utmost priority. As a result of the recent COVID-19 developments, we have decided to temporarily close our stores. We will work with government and health officials to assess when we will reopen our stores and safely bring our colleagues back to work,” Jeff Gennette, chairman and chief executive officer of Macy’s, Inc., said in a statement issued Tuesday. “During this closure, we will continue to serve our customers through our e-commerce sites,” he added.
