Perrysburg Township project includes restaurants, gym and French Quarter theme

A New Orleans-themed development in Perrysburg Township with restaurants, a coffee shop and gym is under construction and slated to open starting early next year.

French Quarter Square will be worth $15-$20 million when finished, said Mike Denman, vice president of developer River Rock Property Group. The property at 10630 Fremont Pike is just east of the I-75 interchange and in the midst of a busy shopping corridor that includes Kroger, Walmart and other big-box stores.

The mixed-used development takes the place of the former Holiday Inn French Quarter, which was demolished last year after closing in 2019. It had been in operation more than 50 years. Mr. Denman said his company opted to stick with the French Quarter theme as both Perrysburg Township officials and local residents urged them to use a design that would "honor" the old hotel.

Two large buildings are going up so far on the property and set to open in the first quarter of 2022, with a third large building now undergoing permitting and set for completion by next May or June.

Also planned on the property are two smaller structures that will house undisclosed chain restaurants.

Mr. Denman said much of the space is leased out, though he did not yet have permission to reveal specific tenants other than a Biggby Coffee location.

A Powerhouse Gym is set to move into an 18,000-square-foot building, site plans show.

Other spoken-for spaces include two restaurants, three medical-related businesses, and an additional exercise-related business beyond the Powerhouse Gym, Mr. Denman said.
