Marco’s Pizza, 2658 W. Central, inspected Nov. 7. The dough sheeter’s roller had a groove worn into its surface, making it difficult to clean. The groove contained grease, flour, and dough buildup.

Learning Ladder Child Care 2, 2400 N. Reynolds, inspected Nov. 7. Chlorine bleach sanitizer in a spray bottle was too strong.

Burger King, 902 Phillips, inspected Nov. 7. A bag of ice was improperly stored within other beverage ice in the ice machine’s bin. The plastic bag constituted a contaminant.

Bambino’s Pizza, 5145 N. Summit, inspected Nov. 7. No sanitizer was set up in wipe buckets or the three-bay sink. The pizza prep coolers failed to maintain proper refrigeration temperature. The person-in-charge failed to ensure employees attended to either of these safety functions.

Wendy’s, 5166 Airport, inspected Nov. 8. An employee improperly touched an order of fries with bare hands. No sanitizer wipe-cloth bucket was set up.

S&G, 7349 W. Central, inspected Nov. 8. The person-in-charge failed to ensure that employees wash their hands properly, maintain safe food holding temperatures, or sanitize washed wares, and could not demonstrate knowledge of safe food temperatures and cooking times. Large boxes were stored on top of the back hand-washing sink. The ice machine’s interior was dirty. Nacho cheese and chili in non-functioning warmers were holding at room temperature.

Bambino’s Pizza, 4466 Monroe, inspected Nov. 8. Items stored in and in front of the hand-washing sink blocked access. Foods had been brought into the facility improperly from other locations belonging to the same owner without proper state licensing. Source of some foods could not be determined. Repeat violation. Cardboard food boxes were reused improperly to store other foods. A cardboard box that had held canned pineapple was used improperly to store cut pieces of pan liner papers. The table-mounted can opener’s piercing blade was dirty with buildup. The pizza oven was dirty with dust and food debris buildup. The food prep sink’s interior surfaces were dirty with buildup. No sanitizer wipe-cloth buckets were set up. Taco meat was left inside the microwave oven overnight. Time/​temperature sensitive foods were date marked improperly or lacked date marks altogether. Bags of cooked foods in the freezer lacked date marks.

Woodlands at Sunset House, 4030 Indian, inspected Nov. 8. Food container lids were cracked.

Whitmer Senior High School, 5601 Clegg, inspected Nov. 9. Chicken used for wraps was left out on the counter after removal from an oven and was holding at an unsafe temperature. Salads, wraps, and yogurt in a grab-and-go cooler were too warm. Chicken and cheese in production were too warm.

S&G, 4001 N. Holland-Sylvania, inspected Nov. 9. The beverage dispenser’s ice chute was dirty with buildup.

Sunset House - Main Kitchen, 4020 Indian, inspected Nov. 9. The ice machine’s interior and the can opener were dirty with buildup. Quaternary ammonium sanitizer in the second floor kitchenette was too strong. Cheese stored above the prep-top cooler’s chill line was too warm. Food storage containers and lids were broken or damaged. Repeat violation.

Speedway, 5904 W. Central, inspected Nov. 9. Hot dogs and tornadoes in the roller warmer were not hot enough. Live gnats were present.

PizzAroma, 855 S. Holland Sylvania, inspected Nov. 9. Quaternary ammonium sanitizer in a spray bottle was too weak. Working chemical containers lacked labels.

First Steps Early Learning Center, 5855 W. Sylvania, inspected Nov. 9. The ice machine’s interior was dirty with buildup.

Club Evolution, 519 N. Reynolds, inspected Nov. 9. The pop gun nozzle and holder were dirty with black buildup. No sanitizer wipe bucket was set up. Taco meat, macaroni and cheese, chicken, and salsa lacked required date marks.

Barry Bagels, 3444 Secor, inspected Nov. 9. Flavored cream cheeses, pasta, and potato salad from an unapproved wholesaler were offered for sale. Quaternary ammonium sanitizer in the wipe bucket was too weak. The iced-tea dispenser nozzle was dirty with buildup. Chemical spray bottles hung improperly over the food prep sink.

Glass City Center - Main Kitchen, 401 Jefferson, inspected Nov. 11. The mixer’s spindle area had yellow buildup underneath.

XZ Mart, 2007 W. Sylvania, inspected Nov. 13. Raw meats were stored improperly above ready-to-eat foods in the walk-in cooler. The open deli display cooler failed to stay cold enough and coney dogs and sandwiches inside were too warm.

Winterfield Ventures Academy, 305 Wenz, inspected Nov. 13. Quaternary ammonium sanitizer dispensed at the sink was too weak.

L&J Turtle, 1519 Eleanor, inspected Nov. 13. Soup was reheated improperly in the soup crock. Two bags of cooked chicken lacked required date marks. Hot dog sauce that had been frozen had an incorrect date mark.

Jonathon Khoi Nail Spa, 6819 W. Central, inspected Nov. 13. Milk in the noncommercial cooler in the back room was too warm. The noncommercial cooler may not be used for time/​temperature controlled foods.

Spring Elementary School, 730 Spring, inspected Nov. 14. The high-temperature dish machine did not reach proper sanitizing temperature during final rinse.

Rudy’s Hot Dog, 3208 W. Alexis, inspected Nov. 14. The ice machine’s interior was dirty with buildup. Ham lacked proper date marks.

Panera Bread, 4050 Talmadge, inspected Nov. 14. The back hand-washing sink was blocked by a mop bucket and the bakery hand-washing sink was blocked by a cardboard box of goods. The ice machine’s interior was dirty with buildup. Small flying insects were near the mop sink and main make line.

Lucky Dollar, 1713 Jefferson, inspected Nov. 14. The coffee machine’s spray head was dirty with black buildup. The cappuccino spouts were dirty with debris buildup. Submarine sandwiches were marked improperly with 14-day expiration dates.

Leroy & Margaret’s, 5131 Heatherdowns, inspected Nov. 14. The person-in-charge failed to ensure employees sanitize wares after washing or maintain safe food holding temperatures. Quaternary ammonium sanitizer in a wipe-cloth bucket was too strong. The ice machine’s ceiling was dirty with pink and black slime. The wall-mounted french fry press was dirty with grime and food debris. Open containers of mustard and bouillon paste labeled Refrigerate After Opening were left out at room temperature. Portioned cups of dressings in a merchandising cooler were too warm. Preportioned Philly meat were held past their Aug. 15 discard date. Drain plumbing for the prep sink, ice machine, and one ice bin lacked air gaps for backflow prevention.

IHOP, 4045 Talmadge, inspected Nov. 14. The lid on the buttermilk batter container had been cut to use the container as a pitcher and thus could no longer be cleaned properly. A proper pitcher must be used.
