Two types of cheese slices in stacks, a large container of pooled eggs, and raw shell eggs were left out of refrigeration and were holding at unsafe temperatures. Employees stated this was normal procedure and they found nothing wrong with it (repeat violation). Chemicals and toxic items were stored with single-service food-contact items in cabinets under the front counter. An employee did not wash his hands at the handwashing sink after handling jars of suspected marijuana buds. Raw foods including steaks were stored improperly above ready-to-eat foods in the walk-in cooler (repeat violation). Soups were cooled improperly in sealed containers in the walk-in cooler. Mashed potatoes left out on the front prep line and the main cook line were holding at unsafe temperature. The walk-in cooler failed to maintain proper refrigeration temperature and numerous foods inside it were too warm (repeat violation). A case and a half of raw shell eggs in the walk-in cooler were too warm. Hard-boiled eggs, hot dogs, Feta cheese, tzatziki sauce, lunch meats, and soups lacked date marks (repeat violation).

The ice machine’s interior was dirty with buildup (repeat violation). Nacho cheese and chili in warmers were not hot enough. The three-bay sink’s sprayer dangled into the middle sink bay, creating a backflow hazard.
The Wyck Lounge, 5345 Heatherdowns, inspected Feb. 10. A drink shelf was drying improperly in the hand-washing sink by the ice machine. Black buildup was present near the top water distribution pipe at the ceiling in the back of the ice machine (repeat violation). The ice machine and ice bins’ drain plumbing had no air gaps to prevent sewage backflow (repeat violation).
Sushi Yoshi, 5236 Monroe, inspected Feb. 10. A pan was stored improperly in the front hand-washing sink (repeat violation). House-made spicy mayonnaise, a cracked egg, and butter with pepper added were left out at room temperature. Cooked noodles were left out at room temperature (repeat violation). Steak ’n Shake, 4121 S. Reynolds, inspected Feb. 10. No person-in-charge qualified in food safety was present during inspection. The sanitizer was too weak. Noodles, tomatoes, milk, and chili in cold-holding were too warm (repeat violation). The correct sanitizer for the Flavor Burst was not available in the facility.
Penn Station East Coast Subs, 4798 Monroe, inspected Feb. 10. The person-in-charge failed to ensure employees maintain safe food temperatures during hot and cold storage. Lots of tubs of cooling french fries were left out at room temperature and some tubs were covered and stacked atop each other (repeat violation). Blanched french fries left out of refrigeration were too warm (repeat violation). A food handler failed to wash their hands after touching a computer screen and then donning gloves to work with food. Grape Leaf Express, 5236 Monroe, inspected Feb. 10. A bucket was stored improperly in the basin of the hand-washing sink in the back of the kitchen. The ice machine’s slide was dirty with buildup. A chemical spray bottle had no label (repeat violation). The mixer’s blade was no longer smooth and easy to clean.
The Grove at Oakleaf Village, 4220 N. Holland-Sylvania, Sylvania Township, inspected Feb. 10. Three of four dish machines in the satellite kitchens did not work properly to sanitize wares, either by not dispensing sanitizer or not getting hot enough during final rinse. The two chemical dish machines lacked visual means or audible alarms to indicate supply levels for detergent and sanitizer. Rosie’s Fine Foods, 606 N. McCord, inspected Feb. 12. Raw beef was stored over ready-to-eat lobster (repeat violation). The cookline hand sink was blocked by brooms and a trashcan. The hand sink by the pizza station was blocked by a trash can, brooms, and speed rack. Bread pans are no longer easily cleanable and must be discarded (repeat violation). Poisonous or toxic materials were improperly stored.

Drunken Nacho, 855 S. Holland-Sylvania, inspected Feb. 12. The hand sink was blocked by a chair and brooms (repeat violation). Buildup was on the potato cutter (repeat violation). Buildup was inside the ice machine (repeat violation). Taco meat from Jan. 27 and pico de gallo from Feb. 2 had not been discarded after being held for seven days (repeat violation).
Rick’s City Diner, 5333 Monroe, inspected Feb. 12. The person-in-charge was unable to demonstrate knowledge by having no critical violations (repeat violation). A food handler touched diced tomatoes and toast without wearing gloves. A pitcher was being filled at the kitchen hand-washing sink and then stored in its basin (repeat violation). An ice toter was hanging on the front counter hand sink (repeat violation). Containers of soup and trays of raw bacon were uncovered inside the walk-in cooler. Pans of cooked omelettes were stacked upon each other without any kind of barrier between them to prevent contamination. The chemical dish machine was not dispensing chlorine sanitizer at 50-100ppm (repeat violation). Home fries inside the walk-in cooler were 54 degrees and had been fully cooled the day before. Cut honeydew, cut cantaloupe, and blocks of Feta cheese sitting out that were not being processed were all at 52-57 degrees instead of being refrigerated. Bottles of chemicals were stored above the clean dish area in the warewashing room (repeat violation). Food thermometers are not accurate.
Stone Cut Bistro, 4332 W. Central, inspected Feb. 13. The person-in-charge was not ensuring employees properly sanitized equipment and utensils and monitoring sanitizer parameters. The three-bay sink at the bar was not set up correctly, with the sanitizer solution in the middle bay between the wash and rinse solutions. The designated hand sink at the bar was being used as a dump sink. The hand sink had a strainer and other items in it. The ice scoop at the bar was stored in a container that had black slimy build-up. Cream in the right-hand cooler at the bar was not cold enough.
Steak Escape, 5001 Monroe, inspected Feb. 13. Buildup was inside the ice machine. Chili inside the walk-in cooler that had been cooled was not date marked.
Casual Pint at Westgate, 3550 Executive Parkway, inspected Feb. 13. A towel was stored in the kitchen hand sink and ice was dumped into the bar hand-washing sink. A covered container of beer cheese was cooling in the walk-in cooler when it should have been vented/uncovered.
Al Smith’s Place, 3550 Executive Parkway, inspected Feb. 13. A tub of hash browns was sitting out at room temperature and too warm. The True one-door cooler was holding milk, whipped topping, and whiskey sauce too warm. The salad prep top cooler was holding sour cream and ranch dressing too warm. Ice was in the hand sink basin which is strictly for hand washing and not to be used as a dump sink. Raw shell eggs were stored above cabbage in the walk-in cooler. The chlorine sanitizer in the wipe cloth bucket was too strong.
El Salto, 5817 Monroe, Sylvania, inspected Feb. 13. Buildup was inside the ice machine (repeat violation). A pan of rice stored inside the oven was not warm enough. Containers of salsa stored in a pan at the wait station were too warm and there was water in the bottom of the pan.
