The Andersons moving headquarters to 55-acre site in Monclova Township

Company HQ has been in Maumee for 34 years

The Andersons plans to build a new headquarters building in Monclova Township, the company announced today.

The company said it has entered into agreements to buy 55 acres of land north of Salisbury Road, west of I-475, and east of Manley Road. Some of the land is currently owned by Eagl Brandywine, LLC, the owners of Brandywine Country Club. Some of the land is also owned by Lucas County.

The cost of the land was not released. The company said it did not know how much it would spend on a new headquarters.

The site purchase is subject to financial incentives, certain approvals, and various land closing conditions, the company said.

The country club will remain open, and a reconfigured 18-hole golf course will be created. The course currently has 27 holes.

The Andersons expects to move into the new headquarters by the end of 2016. A spokesman said the company would move about 450 people from Maumee to Monclova. The Andersons would still have about 700 employees at its other operations in Maumee.

“Quite some time ago we recognized our corporate headquarters could no longer meet the growth requirements of our company,” Chief Operating Officer Hal Reed said in a statement. “After evaluating several alternatives throughout the region, we determined this site to be the most suitable location for our employees, customers, and visitors to our headquarters, and the one that provides us with the most flexibility to meet the needs of our company well into the future.”

The Andersons has been at its current headquarters building in Maumee for 34 years. The company confirmed in July that it was shopping for a new headquarters location, saying it had outgrown its current facility. The company leases its current headquarters.

The agribusiness, which deals primarily in grain sales and purchases but also leases and repairs rail cars, produces ethanol, and operates retail stores, said it had looked at a variety of options for a new headquarters.
