PETERSBURG, Mich. Authorities yesterday said it was a Toledo man who drowned Monday at the KOA campground in Monroe County s Summerfield Township.

Charles Albert Washington, 33, drowned about 2:10 p.m. in a pond at the campground at 15600 Tunnicliffe Rd. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Monroe County sheriff s deputies said.

Mr. Washington was one of two people in the pond who simultaneously had difficulties. Lifeguards came to their rescue, but were able to save only one, deputies said.

That person s name was not released.
