The Catholic Diocese Toledo announced on July 12, 2015 the upcoming closing of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in East Toledo. Toledo resident Sr. Marguerite Lamberjack, OSF/Tiffin, pastoral administrator, says the parish originally served the area's Irish immigrants and their families beginning in 1873, and the church opened in 1900.
