The last dish will be served and the last set played May 27 at Degage Jazz Cafe on River Road in Maumee.
Owners Sam and Kathie Foreman announced the closing today in a news release.
Degage “has been a favorite place for many for great food and entertainment, and the owners would love to see it continue if the right operator comes along,” the Foremans wrote.
Degage will continue catering and special events operations in the second floor space of the Historic Commercial Building, they said.
“It has been an honor to support jazz in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan for all these years,” the Foremans wrote in a statement. “And a special thank you to all the great musicians and singers who entertained at our place.”
The business also was known for a menu that emphasized fine dining.
Music on May 26 and 27 will be provided by bassist and Perrysburg native Ray Parker, now of New York City. His father is Gene Parker, a well known Toledo-area musician.
