Lucas County Treasurer Lindsay Webb expects to be in office Thursday after obtaining a surety bond.
The $1 million bond from Marsh & McLennan of Dayton should be made official Thursday. Ms. Webb said the one-year premium is $10,000.
Ms. Webb said she believes taxpayers will get their money's worth, and she expects the premium to drop within a year once a credit-report grievance is resolved.
“I intend to make up the savings through efficient operations of my office and innovative ideas that I implement over the course of the nine months,” Ms. Webb.
Ms. Webb was sworn into office last week but then stepped aside when a credit issue kept county officials were unable to secure the necessary bond for her. She said Tuesday evening she successfully obtained two bond offers.
State law sets the treasurer’s salary at $80,807. Ms. Webb previously was paid $27,500 annually as a Toledo city councilman.
