Advocates want Ohio Supreme Court to reconsider Lake Erie Bill of Rights

An environmental advocacy group announced Monday it is asking the Ohio Supreme Court to reconsider its ruling on the Lake Erie Bill of Rights initiative.

The Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund said it will file a motion to reconsider the court’s declining to intervene and place the measure on Lucas County’s ballot this November. Justices released their decision Friday.

Last month, Toledoans for Safe Water filed suit against the county elections board for denying the group’s request to have its proposed measure put before voters. County officials have said the proposal exceeded what city law could enforce.
